Chez Marie-Donna Moore
Donna chose her pen name “Chez Marie” which means Marie’s Place in French because it was a nickname for her daughter as a child.
Donna has a passion for human nature, the subconscious, antiques and history that is evident in her paintings. Working in acrylics, charcoal and chalk on reclaimed wood and distressed metals, she strives to create a dreamy, surreal world with intentions to engage the viewer and reach their subconscious. Described as haunting, often using symbols of religious faith, particularly the Catholic religion, Donna’s paintings evoke a sense of good and evil and draws the viewer to stop and delve deeper into her subjects.
With a formal training in painting, drawing and photography spanning over many years, Donna also has a master’s degree in counseling. Residing in both Pensacola, Florida and New Orleans, she currently paints regularly and works as an estate/antique liquidator.
